A song for you

Some days it’s fun to listen to songs recorded at the 2010 Gospel Singing Workshop held here in Saskatoon. The facilitators, Eric Dozier and Kim Pacheco, are such a breath of fresh air with their strong belief that anyone can sing, and we all need to overcome our fears and charge boldly forward, starting with a hearty rendition of a gospel favourite. We had been expecting them to return here soon, but I’ve learned that the event is postponed. So I guess youtube will have to suffice for now.

Enjoy!

  1. I still chuckle thinking about the afternoon when Kim was doing her tears thing and everyone in the group was concerned enough to go up to her as soon as possible to comfort and help her. We were concerned that she was carrying on that way — she must be in some emotional pain, we assumed— and she was surprised we were anxious for her … after all, she was only “testifyin’” in the way that came naturally to her. Such a contrast in “natural” behaviour between her stomping grounds and ours! I get a kick out of this particular example of it.

  2. Yeah. I get comfort from Kim and Eric’s emotional honesty. They don’t hold anything back, they don’t apologize for tears–quite a contrast with the way we prairie people tend to keep a stiff upper lip. I usually cry at least once during the practices, and that’s fine.
